WE ARE COLOR
Color fascinates us. We love playing around with it. Color is the magic formula that opens the door to undreamed-of possibilities and never ceases to amaze us. In knitting and crocheting, color is the source of inspiration. “Ladies First, Tropical Fish, Fool’s Gold, | Sir Henry” – even the names of the Schoppel yarn colors have stories to tell. People with a penchant for creative handcrafting are captivated by this magic and seduced by the most beautiful hobby in the world. |

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Respect for the planet we share is one of the things that defines us. It is also the reason why Schoppel maintains strong partnerships with its suppliers and produces yarns with a guarantee of origin. We are committed to transparent supply chains and clean production from the fiber to the finished ball of yarn. | In other words, we offer a refreshing change to the often untransparent processes in the global textile industry. We also keep animal welfare front of mind. When selecting raw materials, only the best is good enough for us. And we do everything we can to maximize the life of hand-knitted garments. |

GOTS – THE QUALITY SEAL
Our “Bio Merino”, the colorful “Zauberperlen” and “Uni Perle” yarns undergo an annual inspection for Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification. It confirms their compliance with the most demanding transparency, ecological and social criteria. We are working with our suppliers to successively extend our GOTS certification to other products. Schoppel yarns are | produced in southern Germany and by trusted partners in Europe. This in itself is a guarantee of high standards. Our wool comes from merino sheeps of the Swabian Jura mountains and Patagonia. Both are traditionally mulesing-free regions, which is why the “Four Paws” animal welfare organization has awarded Schoppel the gold standard for animal-friendly knitting yarn. |
PRO QUALITY – NON-SUPERWASH
STRONG ON SUSTAINABILITY
While other manufacturers were still talking about it, we went ahead and did it: All Schoppel sock yarns have been reinforced with Amni Soul Eco®, an environmentally friendly, biodegradable polyamide, since 2020. Although it isn’t as sustainable as the pure natural fiber, it’s a good compromise | because it makes the yarn robust, tear-resistant, and durable. Amni Soul Eco® biodegrades under landfill conditions within five years. That’s ten times faster than conventional synthetics. Only these biodegradable components are released into the environment during normal use or washing. |

A fantastic climate for merino sheep
Sheep are not suited to factory farming in confined spaces. However, they can cultivate vast tracts of land that are only suitable for grazing. One such area of land that is larger than Germany in size can be found in Patagonia, on the southern tip of South America. The katabatic winds here make anything other than extensive dry land agriculture impossible. On the upside, however, this climate is extremely favorable for sheep. It ensures that they |
are hardly ever affected by fly strike,
making it unnecessary to use pesticides or
subject the sheep to the painful mulesing
procedure. The animals roam freely on
the extensive grazing lands, only being
rounded up twice a year for shearing and
a health check. It is under these ethical
conditions that the wool for our hand-knitting
yarns is produced. Typical characteristics
of Patagonian wool are long fibers,
high volume, softness, and robustness.

Top quality that is ethically and sustainably produced
“Cotton of Greece” is a one-of-a-kind project uniting sustainability, traceability, and quality from cotton seed to yarn. The transportation distances for this cotton are all short because every stage of production – from cultivation to spinning – take place in Greece. The cotton is also GMO-free and cultivated using water-conserving techniques by family-run farms, and processed with renewable energy. The yarns have been compliant with the GOTS standard since 2023. Due to its high quality and fiber length, this cotton has a long life

The renaissance of a classic fiber
Linen, a sustainably produced and durable fabric, is an ecological natural fiber that is enjoying a new surge in popularity. It also fits perfectly with our concept of quality, sustainability, transparency, and ecology. The advantages are obvious. Linen is biodegradable, grown almost exclusively in Europe, needs hardly any fertilizer or pesticides, is | eignet sich für Bioanbau und verbraucht viel weniger Wasser als Baumwolle. |
