1. Skin compatibility

Sensitive skin:
People with sensitive skin or allergies to animal fibers and virgin wool may react with skin irritations. A test on a small area of ​​skin is recommended before starting larger projects.

2. Dust and fiber exposure

Fine fibers:
When processing virgin wool or plant fibers, fine fibers can be released into the air, which can irritate sensitive respiratory tracts.

Allergy sufferers:
House dust mites can accumulate in natural fibers, which could be a problem for allergy sufferers. Regular ventilation and storage in closed containers helps to avoid this.

3. Fire Hazards

Natural Fibers:
Virgin wool is flame resistant, but direct contact with an open flame can cause it to char. Plant fibers such as cotton are more flammable. Avoid storing these yarns near candles or other sources of ignition.

Chemical Treatments:
Yarns that have been chemically treated (e.g. superwash-treated wool) may burn more easily.

4. Storage and Pest Control

Moth Protection:
Virgin wool, alpaca and cashmere fibers are susceptible to moth infestation. Store this yarn in airtight containers or bags and add lavender sachets or cedar wood to keep pests away.

5. Care instructions

Hand wash recommended:
Virgin wool is sensitive to heat and aggressive cleaning agents. Use special wool detergent and lukewarm water to avoid felting.

Do not wring:
Wringing wet yarn or knitted items can damage the fibers or change their shape. Instead, squeeze gently and let dry flat on a towel.

6. Children:

Only allow children to work with yarn under supervision to avoid tangling or swallowing.

7. Environmental information

Dispose of waste properly:
Yarn scraps do not belong in organic waste, even if they are made of natural fibers, as they have often been treated (dyed, spun). Dispose of them in the residual waste or reuse the scraps creatively.
